How to Simplify Muscle Building

Muscle building doesn’t have to be complicated. Oftentimes we make it complicated by trying to focus on too many things at once.

Today, I’m going to answer the question, “How much time do I need to spend on strength training in order to build muscle?” and give you a simple application to follow to help you build lean muscle efficiently and effectively.


Research from the American College of Sports Medicine suggests that doing at least 30 minutes of strength training most days per week is adequate to build muscle.

My suggestion, as a fitness personal, if you really want to build lean muscle faster and more effectively, is to do strength training 45 minutes per day 5 days per week. This gives you enough time to train each major muscle group twice and have enough time to recover in between workouts. One effective way to do this is to perform strength training Monday through Friday while resting Saturday and Sunday but of course you can make adjustments based on your particular schedule.


But the main idea here is this…

You don’t need to spend countless hours at the gym to build lean muscle. It’s more effective to have a shorter, more focused, and intense training session and then let your body rest and recover.

If you can plan 45 minutes per day, 5 days per week into your busy schedule, then you can build a lean and muscular physique.
